The American Kidney Fund’s Clinical Scientist in Nephrology (CSN) Fellowship combines prevention and outcomes research with advanced training for nephrologists pursuing academic careers. Established in 1988, the program supports career development and scholarship focused on improving care for people with kidney disease. Fellows develop expertise broadly applicable to clinical nephrology and conduct research intended to result in a peer-reviewed publication.
Areas of study are primarily non-biological sciences, including bioethics, biostatistics, epidemiology, health economics, health policy and administration, health services research, medical decision science, and patient-oriented research. AKF gives special consideration to clinical ethics, quality of care, and quality of life, while encouraging new fields relevant to better nephrology care.
