Description
The German Research Foundation’s Clinical Trials Programme funds temporary projects in patient-oriented clinical research. It supports investigator-initiated trials of therapeutic, diagnostic or prognostic procedures, with an emphasis on high international scientific quality, originality and clinical relevance.
The programme covers interventional studies ranging from early pilot investigations to confirmatory trials, as well as observational trials. Pilot studies include phase I, feasibility and proof-of-concept studies; confirmatory trials include phase III studies. Alongside the research itself, funding can support the personnel, equipment and trial-related services needed to conduct the study. Researchers who have completed their academic training apply through different proposal routes depending on the type of trial.
