Summary: Funds high-quality clinical research projects—interventional and observational—to evaluate new therapeutic, diagnostic, or prognostic methods.
The Clinical Trials Programme of the German Research Foundation (DFG) supports researchers who have completed their academic training in conducting patient-oriented clinical research projects. Funding is available for interventional clinical studies—including feasibility (phase II) and interventional (phase III) trials—as well as for observational trials, provided the research question cannot be answered using an interventional design. The programme aims to rigorously evaluate the efficacy of new therapeutic, diagnostic, or prognostic methods, prioritizing scientific quality, originality, and clinical relevance.
