    Description

The Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research (CMCR) at UC San Diego funds primary and pilot studies examining cannabis and cannabinoids as pharmacological agents for medical and psychiatric disorders, including their adverse effects and public health impacts. Supported work includes clinical research, basic science and animal studies with clear human-health implications, and methods for detecting cannabinoids, endocannabinoids, and related substances.

Priorities include proof-of-principle findings that inform larger studies, scientific gaps identified by authoritative reviews, and promising new research directions. CMCR encourages research on under-studied conditions and cannabis constituents, psychoactive and minor cannabinoids, terpenoids, flavonoids, drugs affecting endocannabinoid pathways, and plant-derived products or flower. There is no predetermined ranking of eligible disorders. Existing portfolio coverage is not an exclusion, but CMCR seeks new directions and institutions not yet represented.
