Description
NOAA’s National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) Competitive Research Program seeks projects that advance natural infrastructure for coastal flood protection. Proposals must address at least one of three priorities: public-private partnerships that improve delivery of flood-mitigation products, innovative insurance or financing mechanisms for natural coastal defenses, or improved sediment management. Projects should use state-of-the-art methods to produce actionable information for coastal decision-makers.
The program aims to strengthen state- and locally led flood and storm preparedness. Research teams must collaborate with intended users, applying scenario-based modeling to develop approaches that can be transferred or scaled. Private-sector participation is required for the public-private partnership priority and is valued in the other two areas.
