Description
The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) Coastal Program administers Coastal Resilience Grants to help coastal communities and habitats adapt to a changing climate. Funding comes from NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management under the Coastal Zone Management Act. The program supports capacity-building, planning and design work that advances long-term social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being, rather than focusing only on recovery from storms and other shocks.
Priorities include coalition-building, cultural heritage, environmental justice, public coastal access and protection or restoration of natural coastal resources. Projects should collaboratively develop goals, work plans and outcomes through community engagement and shared decision-making. Applicants and projects from communities that historically have received fewer coastal resilience funding opportunities are strongly encouraged.
