The Graduate Student Diversity Awards are sponsored by the Cognitive Science Society as part of its conference Diversity & Inclusion Awards. They support graduate students who bring diversity to the society and are presenting at its conference. The awards fund conference participation rather than a separate research project, advancing the society’s diversity and inclusion mission.
The program particularly aims to support Black and Indigenous scholars, scholars from other under-represented racial or ethnic groups, and citizens of under-represented and economically disadvantaged countries. The society especially welcomes communities under-represented at CogSci from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East.
