Funding Amounts: One $5,000 grant; funds must be used within one year of receipt
Summary: Supports otherwise unfunded beetle research by Society members, with preference for taxonomy and systematics.
Key Information: Applicants must be members in good standing of The Coleopterists Society.
The Ross Taylor Bell and Joyce Rockenbach Bell Research Grant is administered by The Coleopterists Society to support an outstanding beetle research proposal whose work would otherwise go unfunded. Any Society member in good standing may submit a proposal, with preference given to research involving beetle taxonomy and systematics.
The grant provides research support rather than salary for the investigator. Supported activities include fieldwork, use of analytical equipment, study and curation of key museum collections, and publication in The Coleopterists Bulletin. Previous projects have addressed beetle classification, phylogeny, identification keys, biodiversity surveys, and illustrated catalogues of museum type specimens, reflecting the program’s emphasis on taxonomic and collection-based research.
