Description
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) support joint projects between researchers in the UK and Brazil’s state of São Paulo. Applications can address single or cross-disciplinary research within the remits of seven participating councils: AHRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, ESRC, MRC, NERC and STFC. Funding is accessed through selected council applicant-led or responsive mode opportunities, rather than a separate general application.
Under the lead agency agreement, the participating UKRI council assesses the joint proposal on behalf of both funders. Partnerships should have clear roles and objectives and equivalent research effort on each side, although budgets need not be equal. The programme supports international collaboration with integrity and strong ethical frameworks, and dissemination of results to academic and wider audiences for societal and economic benefit.
