Description
This opportunity supports collaborative research between the UK and Norway by allowing UK-led projects to include Norwegian project co-leads, who can receive funding directly from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through the Money Follows Cooperation agreement with the Research Council of Norway (RCN). The scheme is not a separate funding call; instead, it enables Norwegian researchers to participate as project co-leads in applications submitted to eligible UKRI research council programmes. The goal is to reduce barriers to cross-border research and foster high-quality joint initiatives across all disciplines represented by participating UKRI research councils (AHRC, BBSRC, ESRC, EPSRC, MRC, NERC, STFC).
Norwegian co-leads must make significant intellectual contributions, and their involvement must be clearly justified. Funding is provided for direct research costs and salaries but excludes estates, overheads, and equipment over £10,000. The UK lead institution is responsible for ensuring the Norwegian partner's eligibility and managing the disbursement of funds.
