Description
The Collaborative Research Equipment Grant (CREG) is administered by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) under its Collaborative Research Fund. It supports major research facilities, equipment and research library acquisitions that one university could not otherwise afford and that can serve collaborative research. It also funds group user fees for researchers on RGC-funded collaborative projects to access major user facilities, including existing core facilities or equipment instead of purchasing new equipment.
The grant contributes to creative, high-quality, multi-investigator and multidisciplinary research across disciplines and institutions. It encourages universities to leverage equipment suppliers’ support to achieve greater value than small allocations to individual projects. Funded equipment is expected to be available for shared use by other UGC-funded universities, and teams are encouraged to collaborate with local partners to benefit the local community.
