    Description

The Collegeville Institute’s Board of Directors established this fellowship to help the church increase the number of doctoral scholars of color working in ecumenical and cultural research. Offered through the Resident Scholars Program and Short Term Residencies Program in Collegeville, Minnesota, it supports dissertation work within a residential scholarly community.

The fellowship honors Bishop Thomas Hoyt, Jr., a bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, longtime Institute board member, and 1984 Resident Scholar. His scholarship and commitment to church life exemplify the values the fellowship encourages. The residential setting combines independent research and writing with opportunities for dialogue across traditions, cultures, and disciplines. Resident Scholars gather weekly for seminars, prayer, and shared lunch.
