Description
The Colorado Energy Office (CEO) administers this program to help Colorado electric utilities fund critical grid monitoring and resilience projects. Funding comes through Colorado’s share of the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Section 40101(d), with CEO serving as a pass-through agency for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Projects improve utilities’ ability to monitor grid assets and model the effects of wildfire, extreme weather, and other disruptive events.
Supported technologies include fire monitoring systems, advanced vegetation management, distribution pole sensors, smart meters, grid modeling, and grid communications systems. The program prioritizes demonstrated need, project impact, labor impact, and readiness. Its goals include improved reliability and resilience, benefits for historically disadvantaged communities, advancement of energy justice, and support for projects utilities could not complete without outside funding.
