    Description

Columbia University’s Schaefer Research Scholars Program presents annual awards to research scientists distinguished in human physiology, broadly defined. Made possible by a bequest from Dr. Ludwig Schaefer, the program supports new research directions and the development of existing or new collaborations between faculty at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) and colleagues at other institutions.

The program is open to eligible faculty at Columbia and elsewhere. Its broad research scope is reflected in past projects on human motor neuron diversity and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, tumor immunogenicity and immunotherapy, embryogenesis using stem cells, and tissue-specific antibody repertoires. Awards provide direct research support, with additional relocation support for awardees coming from outside North and South America.
