Description
The Plastic Surgery Foundation (PSF) partners with AAHS, AAPS, ASMS, ASPN, ASRM, CSPS, and PSRC to support preliminary or pilot research. The program promotes innovative work in hand surgery and hand care, plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, and reconstructive microsurgery, alongside fundamental plastic surgery research.
These partnerships aim to develop surgeon scientists and increase research support so investigators can establish a foundation for applications to larger funding agencies. Projects are intended to advance scientific knowledge and, across the clinical specialties, clinical practice. Supported work has included research on scar-surgery satisfaction, basic science investigating lymphatic function, and a randomized controlled clinical trial by a new investigator.
