Description
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a USDA nutrition program administered in South Carolina by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA). It provides food packages to eligible adults aged 60 or older to add nutrients that may be lacking in their diets. The packages supplement food participants already eat; they do not provide a complete diet.
USDA supplies food and administrative resources to SCDA, which works with local agencies and food banks to deliver the program. Local agencies certify participants, distribute monthly food packages, and provide nutrition education.
