Community Arts Learning Grants support Oklahomans of all ages and abilities through community arts classes and workshops that build artistic skills, expand arts access, and strengthen community vitality.

Funding Amounts: Up to $5,000 per project; up to two grants per fiscal year; 1:1 match required

Description
The Oklahoma Arts Council’s Community Arts Learning Grants support workshops, classes, and other community-based arts education programs serving Oklahomans of all ages and abilities. The program aims to strengthen community vitality by expanding access to participatory arts learning and meaningful engagement with the arts. Supported activities include arts-focused workshop series, summer camps, after-school programs, prevention or intervention programs for youth or adults, and creative aging programs.
Projects emphasize sustained skill-building rather than one-time activities. Participants develop artistic knowledge over time, make creative choices, experiment within an artistic discipline or medium, and express themselves through the arts. Instruction must come from teaching artists with demonstrated artistic expertise and educational skills, including classroom management, arts learning assessment, and student engagement. Supported disciplines include music, theatre, dance, literary arts, media arts, and visual arts.
