Description
The Community Crossings Matching Grant Program is administered by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) for cities, towns, and counties across Indiana. Launched in 2016, it partners with urban and rural communities to preserve local transportation infrastructure, support economic development and job growth, and strengthen safe, efficient transportation networks.
The program funds construction for existing road and bridge preservation, ADA-compliant improvements associated with preservation projects, and materials for locally performed chip sealing and crack filling. Eligible work also includes associated drainage improvements, gravel-road conversion to hard surfaces, and low-water crossings. Projects must be shovel-ready and capable of closeout within two years. Community Crossings is a preservation program rather than a funding source for new roads, standalone sidewalks, or projects using federal funding.
