The Community Development Assistance Act (CDAA) is a Nebraska state program that incentivizes charitable giving to community development projects in designated areas of chronic economic distress. Administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED), the program provides a 40% state tax credit to individuals and business firms for eligible contributions made to certified projects or programs. Eligible projects must be certified by DED and carried out by counties, cities, villages, or nonprofit Community Betterment Organizations (CBOs) to deliver community assistance or services such as employment training, human services, facility improvements, educational programs, and crime prevention.
