Description
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program provides grants and technical assistance for eligible Pennsylvania municipalities under Act 179 of 1984, as amended. Funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). The program supports housing improvements, suitable living environments, economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals, and critical community health and welfare infrastructure.
CDBG has two components: annual formula-based entitlement funding for designated local governments and competitive funding for critical infrastructure or revitalization projects. Supported activities include housing rehabilitation, public services, streets and sidewalks, community facilities, water, sewer and stormwater improvements, economic development, and planning.
