Description
Utah’s Small Cities Community Development Block Grant program brings U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding to local community development projects. Administered by the Department of Workforce Services, Housing and Community Development Division, it seeks to provide decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income residents.
Supported activities include public facilities and infrastructure, property acquisition, housing rehabilitation, accessibility improvements, public services, planning, and economic development. Seven regional bodies rank applications using local and regional priorities, with state staff retaining final eligibility approval. Projects must meet a CDBG national objective and align with the region’s current Consolidated Plan. The program emphasizes public participation, local government involvement, and leveraging other public and private resources.
