Description
The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) administers CDBG Tourism Development funding for planning and construction projects involving tourist attractions in Nebraska. The program is part of the federal Community Development Block Grant program, through which DED receives annual funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. CDBG supports community and economic development while encouraging additional federal, state, and private investment.
Tourism projects must connect attraction development to a CDBG national objective: benefiting low- and moderate-income persons, preventing or eliminating slums or blight, or addressing catastrophic health and safety threats. Funding is available through the state program to eligible Nebraska counties and incorporated municipalities, rather than communities that administer their own CDBG entitlement funding.
