The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) administers CDBG-DR through a grant agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The program supports communities recovering from Winter Storm Ulmer, flooding, and other weather-related damage in 2019. Nebraska’s Action Plan directs investments toward unmet housing, infrastructure, and economic recovery needs not covered by other funding sources.
Supported work includes affordable rental and homeownership construction and rehabilitation, infrastructure restoration, and mitigation projects that reduce future disaster impacts. Infrastructure funding can help communities meet local matching costs for federal recovery projects. Planning activities address flood vulnerabilities, risk awareness, water control infrastructure, alternative mitigation options, and housing recovery, resilience, and affordability. DED monitors awards over the long term to support their intended community impact.
