Description
Funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), this competitive program supports projects that help build viable communities. Community Projects can address water and wastewater infrastructure, community centers, medical and senior centers, and workforce training. Other accounts support industrial infrastructure that helps businesses create jobs for low- and moderate-income residents, job training, and responses to recent threats to residents’ health and safety.
Projects must advance at least one state objective: more rational land use, greater economic opportunity for low- and moderate-income people, or correction of public-facility deficiencies affecting health, safety, or welfare. Each funded activity must also meet a federal national objective concerning low- and moderate-income benefit, blight, or urgent need.
