Steuben County Community Foundation (SCCF) offers Community Fund Grants for nonprofit projects that directly benefit Angola, Ashley-Hudson, Clear Lake, Fremont, Hamilton, Helmer, Metz, Orland, Pleasant Lake, and Salem Center. Supported by donors, the funds help meet local needs, provide local services, and make county-wide services more accessible. Eligible work includes local festivals, community events, and other projects that improve residents’ quality of life.
The community-fund approach began in 1999, when SCCF challenged communities to establish funds addressing their distinct issues and concerns. Local volunteer committees review requests and recommend grants, while SCCF works with advisory committees to strengthen local grantmaking. The foundation favors collaboration and long-term solutions that address root causes. Its Board of Directors makes final grant decisions.
