Description
The Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation’s Community Grantmaking program invests in community-based organizations, capacity-building programs, and services that increase opportunities for equity in education throughout Washtenaw County, Michigan. Its goal is to reduce racial and economic inequities through educational opportunities and support for marginalized youth and people facing economic hardship.
Youth-focused priorities include literacy efforts from elementary through high school, mental health and wellness opportunities from preschool through high school, and mentoring programs serving the same preschool-to-high-school age range. Mentoring should take a holistic approach to empowering marginalized young people. The program also supports educational programming for people experiencing unemployment or economic hardship, extending its educational-equity focus beyond youth services.
