Description
Mayo Clinic’s Community Internal Medicine Research Fellowship is a one-year program in Rochester, Minnesota, for board-certified or board-eligible general internists. It combines coursework in biostatistics, clinical epidemiology, and clinical research methods with mentored research alongside experienced Mayo Clinic investigators. Particular areas of emphasis are clinical health outcomes and medical education, with training in hypothesis-driven, patient-oriented research.
The fellowship integrates research with ambulatory clinical practice through a weekly continuity clinic in the Division of Community Internal Medicine. Fellows develop and execute a research project under a clinician-researcher’s supervision while maintaining their clinical skills. Successful completion leads to a postdoctoral certificate in clinical and translational science. One position is available on a competitive basis each year.
