Description
The Community Mycologist Award is an annual honor offered by the Mycological Society of America (MSA) for people with nontraditional academic backgrounds. It recognizes outstanding contributions to mycology or the wide transmission of significant scientific or aesthetic knowledge about fungi to the general public. Rather than funding a proposed research project, it honors an established body of work and sustained commitment to the field.
Administered by the MSA Distinctions Committee, the award recognizes the impact and quality of a nominee’s contributions. Nominees must have a substantial body of work extending over at least a decade. At most one recipient is selected each year.
