    Description

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) offers this grant to develop and expand voluntary group activities promoting services to abused and neglected children or their caregivers. The program supports community-based service delivery systems for children at risk of abuse or neglect and their families, particularly children in the DFPS foster care system. All DFPS regions are eligible service areas.

Supported work includes education and information about abused and neglected children, community awareness, outreach, training, and recruitment of prospective foster parents. The program also describes activities to identify, recruit, and screen prospective foster and adoptive homes. A secondary purpose is to provide an organized body through which foster parents find mutual support and build their foster-parenting knowledge and skills.
