Description
The California Strategic Growth Council’s Community Resilience Centers (CRC) program supports neighborhood facilities that provide shelter and resources during climate emergencies and other emergency situations. It funds planning, new construction, and retrofits, together with year-round services and programming that strengthen community resilience. The program addresses the public health impacts of extreme heat and other emergencies exacerbated by climate change.
CRC invests in both physical and social infrastructure, encouraging meaningful community engagement, cross-sector collaboration, community-based partnerships, and shared governance. All communities may participate, but investments prioritize communities most burdened by environmental, socioeconomic, and health inequities, including under-resourced, rural, unincorporated, and Tribal communities across geographically diverse California regions.
