Description
The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is a federally funded program administered in Colorado by the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), Division of Local Government. It provides formula-based funding to 28 designated local entities to alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty. Activities respond to locally identified needs at the family, agency, and community levels.
Supported work includes employment, education and cognitive development, income management, infrastructure and asset building, housing, health, nutrition, social and behavioral development, emergency services, and self-sufficiency. Funding also supports civic engagement, community involvement, partnerships, services spanning multiple domains, agency capacity building, and emergency management or disaster relief. Community Needs Assessments and Community Action Plans guide local programming. Discretionary funding prioritizes training, technical assistance, and eligible entities’ capacity needs.
