Description
Community Solar for Subscribers is run by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities through New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program (NJCEP). It enables electric utility customers to access renewable energy through community solar projects when the cost of going solar, an unsuitable roof, or lack of control over a roof has prevented them from installing their own panels. The program’s focus is access to solar energy through subscriptions to community solar facilities.
Community solar provides an option for renters and other customers unable to install solar on their own properties. Facilities are large projects often located on commercial rooftops and landfills. The subscriber program forms part of NJCEP’s statewide efforts to help New Jersey customers save energy and money while benefiting the environment.
