Description
The Office of Grants and Research (OGR) runs this competitive program with federal funding awarded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It supports Massachusetts 501(c)(3) nonprofits delivering data-informed traffic safety projects and educational programming. Projects should address a specific local problem and work toward reducing roadway fatalities and serious injuries to zero.
Proposals should improve road user behavior through activities such as education, outreach, and training. Priority areas are occupant protection; speeding and aggressive driving; impaired driving; pedestrian and bicyclist safety; distracted driving; and motorcycle safety. The program addresses risks to both motor vehicle occupants and people using roadways without a motor vehicle.
