Description
The Community Tree Planting Grants program, administered by the Metropolitan Council, funds projects that remove and plant shade trees on public lands within the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. The program aims to address tree loss from pests, disease, and storms, and to foster a more diverse, resilient, and climate-adapted urban forest. Priority is given to projects that remove and replace ash trees posing public safety concerns and those located in census block groups with high vulnerability (as measured by a supplemental demographic index). Grants are intended to deliver long-term environmental benefits, enhance community resilience to climate change, and support healthier community forests.
