Description
The Community Wildfire Defense Grant Program is a U.S. Forest Service competitive program that helps communities and Tribes plan for and reduce wildfire risk. In Nevada, the Nevada Division of Forestry provides a state contact and technical support for proposal development and submission. Funding supports creating or updating Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) and implementing mitigation projects described in eligible plans.
The program prioritizes communities with high or very high wildfire hazard potential, low-income communities, and communities affected by a severe disaster that increased wildfire risk within the previous ten years. Its goal is to connect local wildfire planning with projects that put those plans into action.
