Description
Maryland Sea Grant’s Competitive Graduate Research Fellowship is a two-year program supporting graduate students whose research aligns with its mission and Strategic Plan. Research must emphasize the Chesapeake Bay or Maryland coastal bays and their watersheds. Students working toward any master’s or doctoral degree may apply, provided they meet the enrollment and research requirements.
The fellowship combines research support with professional development in science communication, the science-to-management process, proposal and grant writing, and other relevant skills. Fellows work with professional mentors to translate and communicate research results to end-users, connecting their academic work with management and policy decisions. Former fellows have pursued careers in academia, nonprofit organizations, and state and federal government agencies.
