The Comprehensive Japanese Teaching Methods Program is a six-week residential program offered by the Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Urawa, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Part of the 2027 Training Programs for Japanese-Language Teachers, it supports experienced teachers working outside Japan. One summer course is planned for FY2027.
Training introduces, organizes, and expands participants’ knowledge of Japanese-language teaching methodology. Teachers review their own educational settings and consider how to address teaching problems using what they learn. Lectures and workshops on Japanese culture and society explore content and methods for cultural introduction and cross-cultural understanding education. The program focuses on teaching expertise and knowledge of Japan, with no lessons for improving participants’ Japanese-language skills.
