This opportunity provides researchers access to the STFC DiRAC High Performance Computing (HPC) facility, supporting computationally intensive research in the STFC Science Challenges—covering particle physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics, astronomy, cosmology, solar system physics, and particle astrophysics. Researchers can apply for allocations of computing time and storage on DiRAC’s Data Intensive, Extreme Scaling, and Memory Intensive systems, enabling both short exploratory projects and large, multi-year thematic research programmes. The scheme also offers support from DiRAC’s Research Software Engineering (RSE) team for software development and optimisation.
Applicants are evaluated on scientific excellence, strategic value, efficient use of resources, and responsible research practices. The process encourages international collaboration and supports a diverse range of researchers, including early career scientists.
