Description
The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), part of UK Research and Innovation, allocates time on the DiRAC high-performance computing facility through its Resource Allocation Committee (RAC). DiRAC provides data-intensive services at Cambridge and Leicester, an extreme-scaling service at Edinburgh, and a memory-intensive service at Durham. The opportunity supports the STFC theory community in particle and nuclear physics, astrophysics, astronomy, cosmology, solar system physics, and particle astrophysics.
The RAC considers self-contained short projects, including exploratory work by researchers new to HPC or DiRAC, and longer thematic programmes intended to make step changes in knowledge. Applicants can also request research software engineer (RSE) support to develop or improve software for the DiRAC community.
