Description
The Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program (CMAQ) is a federal-aid transportation program administered in Wyoming by the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT). It funds projects and programs that help attain or maintain national air quality standards for ozone, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter. Wyoming uses the program to help local governments address air-quality issues associated with energy development and other industrial activity.
WYDOT gives preference to projects in energy- and industrially impacted areas that mitigate airborne particulate matter. The program can also supplement the Surface Transportation Program throughout the state, as determined by the Wyoming Transportation Commission.
