Description
The Connaught PhDs for Public Impact Fellowship Program supports University of Toronto doctoral students in connecting scholarly work with people and organizations outside the university. Administered by the Centre for Graduate Professional Development (CGPD), it combines fellowship funding and project support with specialized public scholarship training and networking. Initiatives may involve public communication, such as blogs, podcasts, or opinion pieces, or ongoing two-way exchanges with schools, community organizations, and cultural institutions.
The program brings together research, scholarship, and creative practice across the humanities, social sciences, life sciences, and physical sciences. Fellows develop a concrete public scholarship initiative for an annual showcase and connect through monthly meetings. Selection emphasizes quality, feasibility, potential impact, applicant preparedness, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
