Description
The South Carolina Conservation Bank awards grants to eligible entities to acquire conservation easements or fee-simple interests in South Carolina land from willing sellers. Its conservation objectives include wildlife habitat, water quality, forests, farmland, scenic vistas, historical and archaeological sites, hunting and fishing opportunities, and public outdoor recreation.
The Bank assesses the proposed transaction, the property’s value and condition, its conservation values, and plans to protect those values over time. Applications have an initial phase followed, if approved, by due diligence before grant funds can be released. The Board considers requests on a quarterly cycle.
