The ERC Consolidator Grant is designed for researchers consolidating their independence by establishing or strengthening a research team and developing a successful research career in Europe. It is open to researchers of any nationality with 7–12 years of experience since completion of their PhD, who have demonstrated significant research independence and present an excellent, ground-breaking research proposal. The scheme welcomes applications in any field of research without predetermined priorities, supporting ambitious, high-risk/high-gain projects led by a single Principal Investigator (PI). The PI may employ team members of any nationality and may include participants outside Europe, but the host institution must be located in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country. Proposals are evaluated solely on the basis of scientific excellence.
