Description
VIGO is part of the German Research Foundation’s Scientific Library Services and Information Systems Programme. It supports researchers and information infrastructure operators in jointly developing solutions to challenges in infrastructure development, expansion and permanent operation. The focus is on self-organised negotiation and coordination that improves research infrastructure as a networked system, rather than on individual services or institutions.
The programme supports communication forums for further developing existing infrastructures, and the networking and professionalisation of initiatives addressing shared infrastructural needs. Projects may develop organisational agreements, distributed financing arrangements, responsibilities for future operation, or agreements on standards, interfaces and technical connectivity. Systematic networking must add value for research. Possible outputs include concepts, data models and cooperation agreements.
