Description
The North Dakota Department of Water Resources’ (DWR) Cost-Share Program helps local sponsors develop sustainable water-related projects that serve the public interest and make water development more affordable to local constituents. Support includes feasibility studies, engineering design, mapping, and construction across water supply, flood protection, water conveyance, irrigation, water-based recreation, and dam safety.
The State Water Commission sets program policy and decides applications. Its priorities guide project consideration during DWR’s budgeting process, with emphasis on local participation, on-the-ground support, and prudent expenditure of public funds. Assistance reimburses approved eligible costs rather than providing unrestricted project funding. Only activities described in the policy are eligible unless specifically authorized by Commission action.
