Description
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) uses County Environmental Health Act grants to support environmental health services carried out by certified local health agencies on its behalf. The Bureau of Local Environmental Management administers the program, awarding annual grants to support delegated work in areas including water, air, noise, solid waste and emergency response.
The program connects local responses to environmental problems with DEP’s statewide responsibilities. Grants can also support pilot projects and elective programs. Agencies’ countywide environmental health assessments and improvement plans help identify work for the coming grant cycle and guide DEP’s allocation of funds.
