County Forest Administration Grant supports Wisconsin counties’ forest administrators and related dues, funding ongoing work under approved plans to help manage county forests.

Description
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) provides this grant to help counties employ a professional forester as a county forest administrator or assistant administrator. It supports the ongoing staff work of managing county forests, rather than a separate, one-time project. Funding can also contribute to eligible county dues for an organization that advises county forest administrators and serves as a liaison to DNR.
The grant is tied to an annual County Forest work plan jointly developed and approved by the county and DNR. That plan must be consistent with the county’s 15-year comprehensive county forest land use plan.
