Description
The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Programs administers this program under Wis. Stat. § 165.89. It funds county law enforcement operations that address a problem or issue the county identifies. Projects may support personnel, fringe benefits, travel, equipment, supplies, or other expenses related to the county’s law enforcement program.
Counties describe the need, the objectives of their proposed work, and how department staff will carry it out or put it in place. DOJ calculates awards by giving equal consideration to county population, violent crime rate, and unemployment rate.
