Description
The County Opportunity Grant Program supports public overnight camping in Oregon county parks and recreation areas. Administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) and funded by recreational vehicle registration fees, it has benefited Oregon counties since 1983. Grants support land acquisition for camping, new or expanded campgrounds, rehabilitation of existing facilities, and planning for future overnight camping opportunities.
Projects can include campsites, restrooms, showers, parking, utilities, trails, playgrounds, and picnic facilities that enhance a camping stay. Rehabilitation can address accessibility, health and safety, and the quality of existing facilities. Planning projects can include feasibility studies and park master plans for one or more properties, but must relate to the county’s provision of overnight camping.
