Description
The Cranberry Renovation & Enhancement Program (CRAN), administered by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR), helps commercial cranberry operations modernize production and strengthen long-term viability. It combines two funding tracks in one application, supporting durable improvements that increase productivity, operational efficiency, resource efficiency, and environmental stewardship rather than routine maintenance or repairs.
Renovation projects must produce a completed, functional cranberry bog. Supported activities include vines and planting materials, sanding, grading, drainage, irrigation, water management structures, excavation, and related equipment rental. Enhancement projects support targeted investments such as irrigation automation, bog efficiency improvements, cranberry production and harvest equipment, fruit handling, monitoring, and precision agriculture systems. Improvements must directly support active cranberry production and provide measurable, lasting benefits.
