Description
The Vermont Arts Council’s Creation Grants support individual artists and artist groups developing new work. Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply. Supported disciplines include visual arts, crafts, performing arts including music, literary arts, media and design arts, and multidisciplinary arts. Projects may include a new video series, a novel’s first draft, choreography, visual art exploring new subjects or techniques, or music for an album.
The program supports the creative process through artist compensation, materials, equipment, space, and other creation-related costs. It is highly competitive, with applications reviewed by an independent panel of practicing artists and arts professionals. The larger award option for eligible performing arts groups addresses collaborative projects’ higher production costs, technical requirements, and involvement of multiple artists.
