    Description

The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) supports multi-session arts learning for a consistent group of adults ages 55 and older. Projects should actively develop artistic skills through sustained, organized instruction led by experienced teaching artists who understand how aging affects program design and delivery. The program emphasizes challenging older adults artistically while deepening social engagement.

Projects should respond to participants’ strengths, needs, and priorities and provide meaningful cultural engagement. Programs serving underserved communities are particularly suitable, including veterans, caregivers, people in public or subsidized housing, older adults with disabilities, and rural, immigrant, and Indigenous communities. Funding is made possible through a partnership with E.A. Michelson Philanthropy and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies to expand high-quality arts learning for older adults.
